Karen Murk Potter

Karen's work has been seen in various theatres and film festivals across the country.  She is a designer for theatre, opera, film and television. She currently works as an Assistant Professor for Texas Wesleyan University.  She worked for the California Institute of the Arts as a Costume Shop Manager and Adjunct Faculty.  She lives with her two children and husband in Fort Worth, TX and works throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. 

Karen received her Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theatre Design and a minor in Photography from Ball State University in Muncie, IN.  She received her Master of Fine Arts in Costume/Scenic Design from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.  She has worked as a Free Lance Costume Designer for Theatre Arlington, Artisan Theatre, Resident Costume Designer for Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN., worked for Studio Arena Theatre, Buffalo, NY and The Burgess Meredith Little Theatre, Middlebury, VT.  Recent costume design credits include: Gypsy, Hooray for the Holidays 2, Cake, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sister Act, Uncle Vanya, and Stone Soup at Fort Worth Opera.  Film/Television credits include:  award winning short White Like the Moon, directed by Marina Palmier, produced by Richard Pierce; The Last Gun Shot by Gabriela Tollman and Pizza Time (TV spec pilot) produced by Todd Holland.  Her most recent endeavor was directing Down in Mississippi produced by Texas Wesleyan University.
